Yosuzi Hats: Celebrating South American Tribes

Yosuzi, creator of the Yosuzi lifestyle brand that celebrates the myths and cultures of South American tribes, grew up in Venezuela spending her childhood surrounded by the “traditional ceremonies, stories, and artisanal crafts of her ancestral Guajiro heritage.” After college at Boston University, she spent a decade of her career as a creative working in fashion, film, and advertising between New York City, Los Angeles, and, finally, London. Inspired by the deep emotional tie to her to her upbringing, she created the Yosuzi brand. Today, we are thrilled to have her hats in store at La Ree Boutique.

They forged relationships with the local community leaders and craftsmen. These craftsmen hand-weave hats known as ‘Woma.’ These custom hats have been adapted to her customers’ specs.

Marla Aaron Locks Trunk Show Event

Crafted and finished by hand in New York City, Marla Aaron launched her collection in 2013. Inspired by her love for all things bridges, hardware, and jewelry, Marla Aaron started with just one lock and has since grown it into a complete line of stunning pieces designed to be worn together, customized, and collected.

Marla Aaron Photo

“What began with one lock is now an entire collection designed to be worn in infinite ways and used as “jewel tools” with individuals’ own collections—to redefine the “precious” in jewelry with individuality. Although recognized for its streamlined, industrial look, the collection is deeply rooted in the personal and emotional jewelry of the Victorian and Georgian eras.”
— Marla Aaron Website

A simple design originally crafted from a hardware carabiner, Marla Aaron has enhanced the inspiration to include multiple shapes, adding gemstones, and playing with size to create necklaces, interlacing bracelets, and more.

Marla Aaron Jewelry

These unique looks combine the industrial feel with the delicate and feminine. Adding a touch of color makes each piece unique and the endless combinations full of personal significance.

Marla Aaron also offers customization options such as engraving. When Rachael first purchased her Marla Aaron bracelet (featured in the image above), she had it engraved to add a personal and meaningful touch to the already beautiful piece. The bracelet includes the names and birth dates of her two children engraved on medium locks of rose gold and white gold and yellow gold, her husband’s name and wedding date engraved on the interior of a yellow gold hard hook.

Marla Aaron is more than an incredible artist. A communications executive turned jewelry designer, she is familiar with what it means to be a single mom. Raising her son as a single mom from ages 1-6 years old before meeting her husband showed her the importance of recognizing other women who are raising children on their own. In support of these women, she started the #LockYourMom initiative that gives baby heart locks to single moms with a simple ! engraved in the side to recognize the “the universal powerful, speechless feeling of motherhood. The !!! of motherhood–both how it feels to be a mother and how one feels about their mother.”

Browse a sampling of some of the pieces we’ve had in store over the last 10 months below. Then, stop by on April 28th to see all the pieces available from Marla Aaron at La Ree for one day only during the Marla Aaron Trunk Show.

Brighten Your Summer with Lots of Prints!

Wearing a cardigan and a thin scarf, freezing woman Melissa Cady, 34, reportedly walked to work in frigid temperatures today following her decision that it is spring now. “The date is April 8 and it is now springtime and it is beautiful out,” said the shivering, coatless woman as a gust of cold air blasted into her face. “Winter is over. The seasons have changed. I am happy and warm now.” Sources said the woman spent her lunch hour walking along Lake Michigan, vigorously rubbing her hands together and blowing into them.” — The Onion

Melissa, you’re our spirit animal. Even as we’re still struggling through the last few rains of our Seattle spring, summer clothes with lots of prints remind us that warmer days are on the horizon. If you’re like Melissa, you’ve decided that spring is here, no matter what the weather is doing and that means it’s time to shop for and wear spring and summer clothes.

So, what to wear? We’ve been reviewing the looks from Paris Fashion Week and it’s clear that head-to-toe prints are trending this summer. We’re so on board.

The Sneakers You Can Wear with Everything

You’ve heard it before…”and they go with everything!” Really? Do they? In this case, these sneakers are so cool, you really can wear them with any look. These are your Sunday to Sunday shoes. We’re talking about Golden Goose Deluxe Brand sneakers. A customer favorite, they danced their way into our hearts long ago. If you’re not familiar, here’s a little background info on the Golden Goose Deluxe Brand:

Golden Goose Deluxe Brand was born in 2000 merging the creative spirit of Francesca Rinaldo and Alessandro Gallo: two young Venetian designers, outsiders until then to the world of fashion.

Since the beginning, the company has distinguished itself with innovative but artisan spirited products, a low-key communication strategy and a highly selective placement in venues that share the brand’s philosophy.

In 15 years, Golden Goose Deluxe Brand has created a complete lifestyle for its customers, offering a collection that includes ready to wear, accessories and footwear, combining a refined and modern style with a vintage feeling, all supported by the strong Italian sartorial tradition.

Our most recent arrivals are covered in sparkle, spattered with gold hearts that resemble leopard print, or keeping it simple with their classic solids. All of them feature that iconic eye-catching star, and all of them belong in your closet. After all, you can wear them with everything! Check out the outfits below for some style inspiration on how to pair your favorite sneakers with everything in your closet.

How to Wear Spring Looks Now

Forecasters are predicting a warm weekend in Seattle with temperatures in the 60s and sunshine. We’re planning to spend it outside and in our spring looks. Winter may not be completely over yet, but we’re getting close. This past Monday, we saw the sun set after 6pm for the first time since October. And daylights savings time is just a few days away. Spring ahead means lighter mornings. Thank goodness. ☀️

Time to start spring cleaning and switching over our closets from winter wear to spring and summer colors. Even if it isn’t quite warm enough to be spring, we’ll show you how to wear spring styles now.

How to wear your spring looks now:

Love Layers: Wear Spring Fashion Now

THE LAYER
The key to staying warm during Seattle Springtime is to layer. Pair a light-colored cardigan with your favorite tee and add a matching scarf (or one with a pop of color!) to keep off the cool wind and rain. Sneakers not only make this look super cool, but they’ll keep your toes out of the rain.

Wearing: Nili Lotan Muscle Tee, Jumper Perforated Cardi,The Adaptation Hi Rise Straight Denim, Dianora SalviatI Astuto Scarf and Golden Goose Deluxe Brand Leopard Mid Sneaker
IMG_1260

THE JEAN JACKET
This classic piece never seems to go out of style, which we love. In the spring, it is the perfectly weighted piece to throw on over a summery dress. Pair with a closed toe sneaker and you’re ready no matter what the finicky spring weather decides to do.
Wearing: The Aspesi Linen Dress, Veronica Beard Cara Jean Jacket, Golden Goose Deluxe Brand Camo Sneaker, and Jerome Dreyfuss Maurice Bag

IMG_1261

THE SHOULDER
Sweater weather is over but that doesn’t mean you can’t still pull out your lighter sweaters and wear them throughout the winter/ spring transition. Pair a loose sweater with a pair of cropped pants and slide on shoes. Then, show a little shoulder for a warmer weather look. Pro Tip: If it gets a little chilly, snuggle into that sweater. We won’t tell.
Wearing: The Nili Lotan Bogart Sweater, Nili Lotan Luna Pant, Robert Clergerie Alice Slide, and Marla Aaron Jade Disc Earrings

IMG_6614

THE BOOT
Spring fashion doesn’t mean we ditch our favorite boots. Pull them out and pair with a long light dress. Boots will give you a little extra warmth while keeping your feet dry during those spring rainfalls. Keeping the colors monotone and darker is the perfect way to start the transition to lighter, warmer weather clothes without diving in too fast. But if we’re totally honest, we believe black is a year round color.
Wearing: The Pomandere Chiffon Tie Dress, Isabel Marant Dyna Boot, and Jerome Dreyfuss Bob Handbag in Snake

Spring ahead this weekend. Not just on the clocks, but in your wardrobe. We’re here to help, if you see something you love, let us know.  😘 ❤️
